![]() ![]() IDImager is much less than 1/2 the price of canto cumulus ($139 for the "Pro" and $69 for the Personal versions) but I still had to think long and hard before swapping from IMatch, which is a similar price. However, I'm on a very limited budget and I need VFM. I can understand it is more than just a photo manager and the ability to handle other graphics formats is something I could ake use of myself. So, bang for the buck is quite releative compared to price/features. IDImager is about half the price of canto cumulus, but can also do less. A designer has to cope with much more file formats then a photographer in that respect. ![]() It has more features and fileformats then IDImager, but IDimager might be well suited for just image management. The commercial edition certainly has a breathtaking price, but the single user version is obviously aimed at the Expression Media area of the market. Sorry, I did a search for "canto cumulus" and it missed that site. The single user price is 299 euro's or 399 dollars.NOT thousands of dollars. That is for the server or enterprise editions. This is the link to the canto cumulus single user site. I like that I can drag and drop my selected files (or assign a keystroke) from IDI into my preferred Raw converters (Silkypix, Capture One, NX2 etc) or Photoshop, it's fast and simple and that way I have a seamless workflow between applications. Some people like a single "all in one" package, others don't. I agree on LR3, if you have full fletched photoshop, then LR3 is a bit underwhelming.for digital asset there are better tools as well. I don't understand why so little people know about cumulus, as it is going for years, much longer then any other dam/asset software. I cannot think that it would be very difficult, if it can be done in Bridge I suspect it could be done with IDI.Īs you see and as we both said, it's just wich feautures you need. I will ask Hert if this is a possible feature that could be included in an update. ![]() It would be interesting if IDimager could also catalog alternative file formats if chosen in the setup. If you use InDesign etc, don't you have Photoshop/Bridge? Bridge will display other file types and is bi-directionally XMP compatable with IDimager. IDImager looks nice for the price and does alot of things.Think for most people it will suffice.īut doing also design etc, canto cumulus has a lot more going for me then IDImager as canto can also manage indesign, illustrator and other design formats wich IDImager lacks. Same problem as you, limited funds and we need loads of software. ![]()
